My name is Charlie Jones. I have been in the information technology field since 1981.
My career began in the United States Navy as a data processing specialist. I learned the basics of
the IT world as it existed in that time period. First as a key punch operator and some computer operations
duties. After being stationed at NORAD in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I learned advanced computer operations.
When I was transferred to NARDAC in Pensacola, Florida, I started as an entry level computer programmer
trainee. I purchased books and studied continuously programming skills required to develope software on
the U1100 and Motorola Four Phase.
My first civilian job after the Navy was as a junior programmer at Saufley Field in Pensacola. I excelled
in COBOL, REXX, ISPF and JCL on variations of the IBM mainframe computer. Concurrent with my professional
daytime job, I continuously studied new programming languages appropriate for PC base programming.
Over the years my programming experience has been honed on PC Based, Mied Tier, and Mainframe computing
platforms. I am well versed in various data structures and have a thorough knowledge of supporting utilities
to manipulate data. I have also developed many data manipulation utilities using Assember Language, COBOL,
REXX, PHP, Clipper and advanced macros used to extend editor functionality.
My problem solving skills are exemplary and never let me down in critcal situations.
To this day, I have the same passion for writing software and solving problems as the first day I started.
